Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies iPhone Game Review

Call of Duty attracts legions of fans for a host of different reasons, though its historical accuracy has always been a strong contender for its dominance of the first person shooter (FPS) genre. And that’s also the reason why one small B-movie deviation from the norm has proven to be so immensely popular. After all, who doesn’t love shooting Nazi zombies?

This iPhone game came out of nowhere and with practically no fanfare at all. And yet this adaptation of a bonus map for the PC game has gone down a storm on the App Store, with shooter-hungry iPhoners pouncing on it like a zombie at a MENSA meeting.

Mumblings have been heard around the internet that a full price iPhone game should have more and bigger maps. But Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies has a perfect setting for the living dead scenario. Trapped in a crumbling bunker, the claustrophobic nature of the map adds massive amounts of tension to the game, especially when the defences begin to fall apart and the lumbering undead breach the barricades.

The game handles the 3D visuals impressively well, with plenty of enemies shuffling about and a great selection of weapons for you to send off head shots, machine gun fire and knife thrusts.

It even packs in an online multiplayer option so four players can get together in the bunker and go on a good old-fashioned zombie hunt. With almost no visible lag and a fast, efficient matchmaking system, Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies has redefined the realm of iPhone FPS games.
