Turn Your Nokia Mobile Into A Radar

The boffins over at the Nokia research center have produced a new radar application for Nokia Mobiles.
The new mobile radar demo was shown off at the recent Demo House 2010 event in Finland, where mobile innovators meet to discuss and show off new technologies.
The mobile radar software enables you to use your mobile to measure how close an object is to you, its speed and its direction. Apparently, it’s exactly the same technology that the police use to monitors a cars speed.
In addition they also showed the device put to more practical uses with a demo of the software being used to raise and lower the volume of the phone. Raising your hand raises the volume and lowering it reduces the volume and this function works even if something is obstructing the phones path. Meaning it would still work while inside your trouser pocket.
I guess it’s a pretty cool idea and would easily be a good proximity sensor for James Bond style alerts.
Once we hear more about the Mobile Radar software from Nokia, we’ll be sure to let you know.
